Tuna Steaks (3 lbs.) Recipes
Seared Tuna Steaks with Soy-Ginger Glaze (3 pounds)
Ingredients:
- 3 pounds fresh tuna steaks (about six 8-ounce steaks)
- 6 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for searing)
- 3 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced (optional, for garnish)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
Prepare the marinade:In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and honey (or brown sugar). Set aside.
Season the tuna:
Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels and lightly season both sides with salt and black pepper.
Sear the tuna:
Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add a splash of olive oil to coat the surface. Sear the tuna steaks in batches if needed, cooking each side for about 1-2 minutes for rare, 2-3 minutes for medium-rare, or longer for your preferred doneness.
Add the glaze:
During the last 30 seconds of cooking each batch, pour a portion of the marinade into the skillet to coat the steaks. Let it reduce slightly and enhance the flavor.
Serve:
Transfer the tuna steaks to a serving platter and drizzle with any remaining glaze from the skillet. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
